Special emphasis is given to compliance with state and local government regulations and adherence to the American Academy of Sleep Medicine standards of practice.
BACKGROUND
Sleep disorders are highly prevalent, affecting up to 70 million people in the United States. Worldwide, sleep disorders have become a problem due to the increased industrialization of certain countries and the advent of becoming a 24/7 society.
Education of physicians and other health care professionals in sleep-related disorders and their treatment has been lacking in many medical settings. This has also resulted in the lack of identification of many sleep disorders that may have a profound effect on overall health and well-being.
The goal of Sleep Services International is to increase education and awareness of sleep disorders through educational programs for health care professionals in the United States and abroad. Technical training and clinical training for physicians is provided for individuals who are new to the field of sleep medicine, or those who desire to enhance their skills. Emphasis is placed on newly emerging technologies and recent developments in clinical diagnosis and treatment.
